Welcome to another real life wedding !
This week Jacquii & Alan share their Sirromet Wedding with us !
Wedding Theme – We hadn’t decided on a theme until I found my wedding dress, without giving away too much at the time to Alan we then decided on having a bit of a vintage feel to our big day.
Tell us how you met
We met at our previous workplace but hadn’t really spoken a great deal until a mutual friends party. It’s hard to remember exactly what it was that drew us together at first (maybe it was the fact that I didn’t laugh when he said he liked the band Coldplay..), either way it was the start of a wonderful relationship.
The proposal
On a weekend away at the Gold Coast. Alan had originally planned to pop the question as we were walking along the beach but it had started to rain.
All was not lost though as he got down on one knee on the balcony later that afternoon. A complete surprise, and I was pretty impressed with his ability to control the weather as a rainbow appeared after I had said yes..
The all important Details
Ceremony location: We didn’t shop around for the wedding location. The Laguna at Sirromet Winery was always the one!
Reception location: The Barrel Hall – Sirromet Winery. We had heard so many positive reviews after deciding on Sirromet as our venue and it definitely lived up to its reputation!
Gown: The Bridal Centre. So in love with my gown, I didn’t want to take it off!
Wedding bands and engagement rings: Alan gets a lot of credit here, he designed my engagement ring with the help of a good friend and the staff at Diamonds International, Carindale.
Very impressed that he had actually been listening all those times I casually pointed out rings.. Wedding bands were also from Diamonds International.
Celebrant: Mike Gordon was our celebrant. Always the professional, you wouldn’t know he had broken his shoulder a month before and had major surgery!
Wedding Coordinator: Yours truly. Although Alan could be quite vocal when it came to the important stuff (For example ensuring there was an adequate beverage selection while out in the vineyards having photos etc..).
Decorator: Sirromet took care of our decorations. Hair: My Auntyย is a hairdresser so this was an easy decision!
Hair piece: I wore a headband from Forever New for our Reception.
Bridal party attire: Bridesmaids dresses were from Gossip Gowns, Norman Park.ย Groomsmen suits from Spurling Formal Wear, Underwood.
Make-up: The lovely Kate Witherington. Professional and such a great sense of humour!
Flowers: The Lush Lilly.ย I’m sure one of my bridesmaids would tell you her favourite flowers of the day were the throwaway bouquet…now she is waiting patiently for him to put a ring on it!
Stationery: Andrea from Deciduous Press helped to create all of our stationary. For any bride interested in letterpress stationary I strongly recommend this online company as we can not fault them!
Cake: Slices of Heaven by Anita. One word: divine! Find her on Facebook, you will not be disappointed!
Entertainment: Nathan Seiler. Nathan doubled as both a pianist and DJ and we definitely recommend Nathan to any future brides and grooms who appreciate someone who can sing in the style of Michael Buble and Frank Sinatra!
Music: Our favourites from the day are the song I walked down the aisle to, a cover of Bruno Mars’, ‘Just The Way You Are’ and our first dance, a cover of Paramore’s, ‘Still Into You’.
Transport: Brisbane VIP Limosouines, such a fun way to arrive! A surprise to me but we had party music and funky disco lights (oh and can’t forget the champagne!).
Honeymoon: Two wonderful weeks in Fiji!
Funniest Moment
There were so many..accidentally spraying perfume in my eyes and mouth..a groomsmen forgetting to put the handbrake on the golf buggy, and then all of the bridal party antics!
But the speeches were a favourite funny moment with Alan and Dad telling a lot of cheeky jokes!
Favourite Wedding Day moment
Our first dance, it was as if we were the only people in the room, very special.
Special thanks to
Our parents, our bridal party, Penny, Kayla, and all of our family and friends who helped make our day unforgettable. Love to all!
What did you value most about using Ben Clark Photography ?
Bens expertise in not just photography, but all things weddings, was very valuable to all of us on the day. From pinning buttonholes to tips about my veil, Ben was there to answer our questions and help the day run smoothly.
We also can’t forget to mention our appreciation for Ben’s relaxed and patient nature as it was probably hard at times to get a word in between the bridal party’s jokes and laughs.
Advice for other brides-to-be
Give yourself plenty of time to plan the big day so you can enjoy the journey and avoid the stress. We had a long engagement and would definitely recommend this to future brides!
