Date: 16 May 2015 – Theme: Elegance

Tell us how you met

Hugo & I met when we were kids when his Dad was working for my Aunt. We didn’t like each other at all & we were always trying to get each other into trouble.

The proposal

Hugo proposed in August 2013 when we were in Tokyo, Japan. His original plan was to propose when we were visiting Mt Fuji but we couldn’t see the mountain due to the cloud cover. For dinner Hugo ordered me the wrong meal and I ended up with a very, very, very spicy, cold noodle soup. With the extreme heat in Tokyo and the terrible dinner, I was cranky. When we got back to the hotel Hugo started opening the blinds, turning off the lights & moving me over to the window where we had a view of Tokyo. He got down on one knee, popped the question and managed to shut me up!

Our Honeymoon

Originally we were going to Koh Samui, Thailand for two weeks after the wedding.

However Emma became quite ill the day after the wedding so we had to cancel our trip. As a ‘mini-moon’ we will be going to South Australia to spend a few days down in the McLaren Vale wine region.

Funniest Moment

While we were getting our photos taken it started to rain. Adrian our driver pulled out some white umbrellas while Hugo cracked the champagne. Just as we were all posing the wind picked up. Hugo’s and my umbrella ended up turning inside out while everyone else was trying to hang on to their umbrellas and their drinks.

Favourite Wedding Day moment

Definitely the speeches. The best man and the maid of honour speeches were hilarious. Kevin described us as the newly ascended Queen and her royal guard. Sarah’s analogy of us was that of a Honeybee flying into a Venus flytrap… Bzzzzz!

Special thanks to

Our parents, the bridesmaids and the groomsmen for everything they did to help make our day extra special. Oh and special thanks to the weather for making the sun shine just as I arrived!

What did you value most about using Ben Clark Photography

Ben was amazing.

Right from our first meeting, Hugo & I both knew that he was the person we wanted taking our photos. Our priority was to feel comfortable, relaxed and very much in the moment.

Oh and getting Hugo to smile naturally. Ben provided all of this and more. Not only did he help create a fun and carefree day but he also was very handy with buttonhole pining for the guys.

Everyone we spoke to at the wedding and after all commented on how professional Ben was. He was always there but blended into our friends and family seamlessly.

Our photos are stunning and beyond our expectations. Ben captured so many moments that we will cherish for a lifetime.

Advice for other brides-to-be:

Everyone always tells you that the day passes so fast and to take 10 minutes every so often to just step back and take it all in.

Whoever says that is right on the money. Your wedding day goes so unbelievably fast.

So take 5, 10 or 15 minutes with your new husband/wife, just the two of you, to take in the moment and see what all of your planning has achieved and how much everyone is enjoying themselves.

Emma & Hugo thank you for sharing your story and I can’t wait to see your finished wedding album !
